Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Uganda
Uganda Gorilla trekking safari begins with briefing from your driver guide who will pick from lodge after breakfast at around 7am. At this point, UWA rangers meet clients and give them seats to rest on while waiting for briefing time which is usually 8am.The driver guide registers visitors with the on duty ranger so that they can be allocated a gorilla family.
The ranger guide will also give a brief about the park and how to interact well with it plus community around there. So after this you are given a gorilla family to trek and then start walking into the forest. Depending on where gorillas are located, a drive might be made up to trail head.
It’s always good to hire porters who help carry day packs since sometimes gorillas may be far from where trekking starts. They also assist in navigating steep slopes which could be slippery due rain.
